About the event

“L'oreille nue” (The Bare Ear) is a story of listening told by many voices, an attachment that comes through the ear; a story of encounters, with a people, with a family, with a village, then another, then another; a discreet story, made up of resurgences and appearances, of the buzzing of transformations.


It takes place on the indigenous land of September 7, in the southern Brazilian Amazon, between Mato Grosso and Rondônia. The name “Paiter Surui,” as the people who live there call themselves, means “ourselves, real people.”


Guided by the question “how can we understand each other in the world?”, “L'oreille nue” explores how listening (and recording), as a sensitive, political, and ecological practice, shapes our relationship with otherness and the environment.

It echoes with the beauty of a forest that still shelters all the Amazonian fauna, of which the indigenous peoples are the guardians. As they capture the…
