The Espace Frans Krajcberg, Centre for Contemporary Art & Nature

Inaugurated in 2004 by Bertrand Delanoë, the Espace Frans Krajcberg is located at the end of Chemin du Montparnasse, a bucolic alleyway whose entrance is at 21 Avenue du Maine in the 15th arrondissement of Paris, in the heart of the unusual old Paris.

A vestige of Montparnasse's great history, this same lane was home to Frans Krajcberg's Parisian studio, where,

a ‘Montparno’ at heart, he came to work and recharge his batteries several times a year.

Admission is free and open to all, Tuesday to Saturday from 2pm to 6pm.

An exhibition and research centre dedicated to Frans Krajcberg, the father of environmental art

An exhibition centre that permanently displays the City of Paris' collection and iconic works from Frans Krajcberg's artistic and activist career.

An archive open to researchers and students is accessible by appointment.

A place for discussion and reflection on the world of tomorrow, through art and ecology

The temporary exhibition rooms host artistic, literary, scientific, cinematographic and educational programmes on the links between art and the environment.

A laboratory for contemporary creation and the environment, focusing on rebellion, awareness-raising and education.

Frans Krajcberg asserted that art and artists are serving the great cause of the 21st century: the fight to preserve our planet.

Exhibiting contemporary, activist and multidisciplinary creations

related to the work, life and message of Frans Krajcberg, in a space for exchange that is free and open to all.

Giving carte blanche to contributors in the temporary exhibition rooms to question the role of the artist in our contemporary world.

Encourage projects that seek to break down barriers and bring together the perspectives of art and science.

Preserve and promote

the work of Frans Krajcberg, and in particular the donation made to the city of Paris, notably by creating an archive and photo library accessible to all.

Host speakers, researchers, young artists and authors committed to the planet

to reflect together on the world of tomorrow; unite in the fight to preserve the environment and promote art in the service of the planet: master classes, conferences, research, seminars, screenings, shows, etc., highlighting the link between art and nature.

Transmit and promote dialogue between generations

through on-site workshops or visits to schools, tours, artist/child encounters, the creation and publication of educational materials, partnerships with social and educational centres, or any other action that promotes a ‘lifestyle in harmony with nature’.

Strengthen international ties

in particular intercultural ties between France and Brazil and, more broadly, the South American continent.
