About the event
Join us on Wednesday, 19 November 2025, from 6 to 8 p.m., for a conversation and the launch of the photo book Hêmba (Fotô Editorial, 2023), in the presence of Edgar Kanaykõ Xakriabá, author and photographer of the Brazilian Xakriabá people, Fabiana Bruno, publisher and researcher, and Marcella Legrand Marer, curator and photography researcher. Hêmba is a constellation of images and texts in Portuguese, English, and Akwê, weaving together non-Western narratives of Brazilian photography.
EDGAR KANAYKÕ XAKRIABÁ
is a photographer and member of the Xakriabá Indigenous Land. His people, the Xakriabá, are the second largest indigenous linguistic group in the country. Author of the photography book Hêmba (Fotô Editorial) and nominated for the 2023 Pipa Award, he has participated in numerous group exhibitions in Brazil, internationally and abroad.
He will be accompanied by Fabiana Bruno, publisher. She works on photographic book projects with Fotô Editorial in São Paulo. She coordinates and…
