"I discovered Frans Krajcberg's work at the exhibition Modernidade, Brazilian Art of the 20th Century, held at the MAM in Paris in 1987. At the time, I knew nothing about Brazilian art, and it was only in the late 1990s and especially in the early 2000s that the situation changed when I met Edson Barrus Atikum. Since then, we have lived between the two countries (...) Our frequent trips to the sertão [Northeast] made me realize the importance of the caatinga, especially when Edson embarked on a project to preserve a tree: the imburana de cambão. The links with Frans Krajcberg's work seemed obvious, insofar as forms of resistance to deforestation could not be limited to the Atlantic Forest or the Amazon. Since 2016, I have made numerous films and/or installations focusing on the issue of saving this tree species. These works contribute to Krajcberg's denunciation and cry against deforestation."…
